Which Running Back Should the Philadelphia Eagles Sign?

The Philadelphia Eagles are currently in the market for another running back. Miles Sanders is clearly their #1 running back moving forward and was quite the surprise his rookie season. When Jordan Howard went down with an injury least season, Miles Sanders stepped his game up. Jordan Howard signed with the Miami Dolphins this offseason, so they’ll need his replacement. Corey Clement was injured most of last season but signed a 1-year deal to return. The Eagles also have Boston Scott, who was one of the better players last season after all the injuries. Philadelphia want to bring in one veteran to complete their backfield and three names have been linked to Philadelphia. LeSean McCoy, Carlos Hyde and Devonta Freeman. Carlos Hyde just signed with the Seahawks, so that leaves McCoy and Freeman. Who should the Philadelphia Eagles to sign?

LeSean McCoy

LeSean McCoy have been angling for a return to Philadelphia for a while now. McCoy is one of the greatest running backs in Eagles history and their all-time leading rusher. McCoy isn’t the same player he was a few years ago, but could they bring him back? It would be a feel good story seeing the Chip Kelly traded him to Buffalo a few years back. Desean Jackson, who was also traded by Chip Kelly has been pushing the Eagles to bring him back also. LeSean McCoy could definitely be that great veteran presence for the growth of Miles Sanders. McCoy turns 32 in July and the question is, how much does he have in the tank? I’d love to see McCoy back in an Eagles uniform and eventually retire in a Philadelphia uniform. Will the Eagles decide to bring him back?

Devonta Freeman

Devonta Freeman was released by the Atlanta Falcons and just turned 28-years-old. Freeman spent his first six seasons in Atlanta and made the Pro Bowl in 2016. Unfortunately, that was the last time he rushed for a 1,000 yards and played an entire season. Freeman has been hampered by injuries ever since, which is one of the reasons Atlanta released him. When healthy, Freeman is a very aggressive runner and tough between the tackles. He’s looking for a better deal than what Carlos Hyde received from Seattle. Freeman just stated that he’s willing to sit out the 2020 season if he doesn’t receive the money he’s asking for. Would the Eagles meet his contract demands? Would you take the 28-year-old Freeman over the 32-year-old McCoy?
